The building blocks that led to the establishment of Balancing Art was the creator's, visual artist Renae D. Simmons, life long discovery of artistic gifts and talents.   Her first memorable artistic discovery began in the sixth grade; age 11. .   It was a school art contest where she won a blue ribbon for a charcoal drawing of a stick figure person playing a cello.  Not only did she win a blue ribbon, but the art contest organizer asked if she could keep her art piece.   By participating in this contest Renae realized that her art work had value and meaning to others.  This drawing was saved by her mother and is now the Balancing Art  logo you see above.

Renae states that her creative artistic skills are a "sum total" of her life long exposure to the interior/exterior designs by family members,  close observation of art pieces found in museums and galleries throughout the United States, Europe and the Caribbean; education in the field of Interior Design and Child Development/Psychology; education to become a Certified Color Consultant and the beauty of nature seen while growing up in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.

It is her opinion that most people, rather they realize it or not, prefer a room that reflects balance.  A feeling that the elements in a room harmonize well together and is an expression of their unique personality or the purpose of the room.     Renae describes her art work as a "Balancing Act".   Balancing color, shape, size, proportions, scale and texture; with consideration given to the effects of lighting and the psychology of color.   All coming together to create contemporary art work that reflect  Balance.
